On the 31st of August 2026 we had our first annual Swiss RSE day in Zurich with a full program and close to 150 attendees! It was a great time to catch up with all RSEs from all over Switzerland - here some quotes:

Open-source software services meet-up

The Center for Digital trust (C4DT)’s bi-annual open-source software services meet up took place on the 30th September at EPFL. As usual, the meet up was an opportunity for EPFL’s open-source community to meet and exchange.
We’d like to thank our speakers Cenk Yıldız from the Swiss Plasma Center (SPC) and Andrii Babarytskyi from the Research Computing Platform (RCP) that presented two new open-source software services at EPFL. Special thanks also to Jennifer-Marieclaire Sturlese, a visiting researcher from the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien who gave us a sneak peak into her ongoing research into making the IT systems of public universities more secure, sovereign and trustworthy.

EnhanceR is pleased to announce the Community Event Grants 2027. These are small grants for events that bring together Research Software Engineers (RSE) and Data Stewards (DS) in Switzerland, such as meetups, community lunches, workshops, hackathons or kick-off events for new local communities.

Key facts
- Who can apply: anyone affiliated with a Swiss institution, for an event held in Switzerland
- What is covered: catering, room hire, technical equipment, travel and accommodation for an invited speaker, materials and printing
- Especially encouraged: applications from institutions where a community is just forming, and joint applications from two or more institutions
- Deadline: 15 December 2026 (decision by 15 January 2027)
