This is an on-site event at the Paul Scherrer Institute.

Romain Sacchi is a senior scientist in the Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis.

His “carculator” tool allows users to calculate and compare the lifetime carbon emissions for various cars—electric, hybrid, gasoline, and more. Originally created to support scientific publications, a recent collaboration with Touring Club Switzerland has now made the tool available to a wider audience: anyone in Switzerland looking for a new car.

Romain will share insights on how to transition scientific software into a successful public-facing tool.
