DESCRIPTION:About the speaker:\n\nChad Baker accidentally stumbled into sim
 ulation software development when he\ndeveloped Python models to help expl
 ain experimental results of his automotive\ncatalyst testing apparatus whi
 le doing research for his MS in mechanical\nengineering at University of T
 exas at Austin.\n\nHe then went on to refine this skills with deeper effor
 ts during his PhD\nresearch\, went on to work for Ford Motor Company for 6
  years developing thermal\nsystems simulations and integrating them into f
 ull vehicle simulations\, and\nthen went to work for the National Renewabl
 e Energy Lab (now known as National\nLab of the Rockies) in Golden\, CO fo
 r 6 years.\n\nSince joining the Geothermal Energy and Geofluids\n(GEG) gro
 up at ETH in September 2025\, Chad has shifted to working on geothermal\ne
 nergy simulation.\n\nAbout the presentation:\n\nIn this talk\, Chad will s
 hare lessons he's learned from years of practical\nefforts in collaborativ
 e coding for research software engineering\, focusing on\ncollaborative co
 ding\, code quality\, systems modeling architecture\,\nserialization/deser
 ialization\, assessing performance\, and using Rust under the\nhood to acc
